M. Jamil Hanifi



M. Jamil Hanifi, Adjunct Professor of Anthropology, The University of Michigan-Dearborn and Michigan State University, since 1990 was born in Sorkhab, Logar Province, Afghanistan. Hanifi has a Ph.D. in Anthropology, and M.A in Political Science and a B.Sc. in Social Science.

He has comprehensive reading, speaking, and writing fluency in Farsi, Paxtu (native languages), Tajiki (in Cyrillic). Good reading ability in Arabic, Russian, and Urdu. Hanifi's interests include socio-cultural anthropology. Ethnology and the history of the Middle East, Central and South Asia (especially Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan), Islamic Philippines, North America.
