America's Right Wing has energized the appallingly large numbers of Americans, adult products of a failed education system, as their shock troops

We’ve reach a point (a low point) in American political history where simply debating the facts around issues is no longer enough. Now, thanks to the lunatic-right, we can’t even begin debating facts until we first clear a minefield of disinformation and lies laid in our path. Once Democrats reclaimed power in 2008, the right decided their only hope of stopping a progressive agenda was to adopt an all-out scorched-earth policy. And the only way to do that was to lie and keep lying.

Yeah, I know, I’m just another “lib” accusing conservatives of playing dirty. Yes, I am. But also, yes they are. And this time they’ve energized the appallingly large numbers of Americans, adult products of our failed education system, as their shock troops. These people are grossly uninformed, easily misled and eagerly led.

It is at least encouraging that a handful of major news media figures are taking the time and making an effort to fact-check the leaders of the mindless Tea Party rent-a-mobs. The shame, of course, is most news outlets are not yet doing so but instead just reporting — like court transcriptionists — on what the right wing-nuts claim to be true. Which I find puzzling. I mean, it’s one thing to be a lazy reporter, but it’s quite a different thing to be THIS lazy. After all, it isn’t all that difficult to prove or disprove the right’s alarmist claims. It was pretty easy even back when I was reporting on Washington long, long before there was anything like the Internet, Google or YouTube. For reporters working today the truth is literally only a few keystrokes away. Hell, today’s reporters often don’t even have to leave their cubicles to get to the truth on these matters. So, there’s no excuse when “journalists” simply parrot what a politician claims to be true with verifying it. And, if it turns out to not be true, failure to report it as such is nothing short of complicity by allowing oneself to be used as a propagandists. (And that goes for claims by left-wing nuts as well.)

Okay, enough from gramps here on how things were “back in the day.” Here’s an example real reporting.

The ultimate problem with the Right is Capitalism as an "ideology" and not just the best way to create-but not distribute-wealth. Pure markets, without any regulation, are a wealth of disinformation--knowledge is power. The Pinksheets Stock Market, one of the most unregulated bouts of monetary anarchy within the capitalist brawl, is one big stock promotional lie after another--literally everything in that universe makes octopus ink seem trustworthy. Pure capitalism uses the lie as an ESSENTIAL tool to gain market advantage. Capitalism as an ideology creates liars!
