All the words have been written
Wednesday, 27 June 2007 13:46

by Frank Pitz

All the words – the truthful words – explaining the political high crimes, felonies and misdemeanors of Corporate Amerika and their political bedfellows in Washington, D.C. have been written.  That’s the truth, all the words, sentences; paragraphs, tomes that can ever, or could ever be written, have already been penned.   There is really nothing more to say, or write.

It can never be made any clearer to the deluded Amerikan public, they have been had and the corporate/political desperados are laughing at the stupidity of those they have raped and pillaged.  There can no longer be any semblance of pretense, we’re up the proverbial creek without a paddle and Joe and Jane six-pack could care less.

In a very apropos article, Joel S. Hirschhorn has layed out the best analogy that I have read to date about this situation.  Here are just a couple of paragraphs – food for thought as it were:

“The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal national poll results vividly show a population incredibly dissatisfied with their nation’s political system. In other countries in other times such a depressing level of confidence in government would send a signal to those running the government that a major upheaval is imminent. But not here in the USA. Why?

“First, here are the highlights of the poll that surveyed 1,008 adults from June 8-11, with a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.

“A whopping 68 percent think the country is on the wrong track. Just 19 percent believe the country is headed in the right direction - the lowest number on that question in nearly 15 years. And most of those with the positive view are probably in the Upper Class.

“Bush’s approval rating is at just 29 percent, his lowest mark ever in the survey. Only 62 percent of Republicans approve, versus 32 percent who disapprove. Take Republicans out of the picture and a fifth or less of Americans have a positive view of Bush.

“Even worse, only 23 percent approve of the job that Congress is doing.”

Of course, Joel has been speaking out/writing about this dichotomy for quite some time at this point and his “Are Americans unready to boil,” reinforces my premise that all the words have been written.  There is nothing left to write, there is nothing left to say, or write that will make the stupid in Amerika go away.  This is one dumb, fucking country here.

We can piss and moan, we can talk until the cows come home and we can express our discomfiture to the pollsters but we will hang together here in that pot while the flame gets higher and the water boils.  We’ll hang together until we all become a nice shade of pink doneness.

It amazes me that so damn many people can be so damned dissatisfied and angry and yet still, just sit back and turn the channel.  Of course, that’s the way it is with Amerikans, we have our entertainment (delusion) and we have those wonderful Big-Pharma narcotics plastered all over the TV screen, which we love to avail ourselves of.  We also have the perpetual “war on terror,” those pesky immigrants, the “thugs” on our streets and much, much more, to direct our hatred toward.  Why bother hating, or rising up against a corporate bloodsucker or a political whore, it’s just all so intangible, after all, isn’t it?  We can all just boil together, n’est-ce pas?

Is there anything socially redeeming about a Democrat?

The Demmies came in with a bang – way back when – remember?  They were going to “take charge,” and in 100 days we’d all see the difference.  They came in with big gavels, big ideas and all the big gatekeepers like Move On.org leading the way.  Well, a funny thing happened to all that big change, the Demmies rolled over, stuck their posteriors up in the air and said: “here I am, take me.”  There is not one (well, I can think of perhaps one or two), damn Demmies – or Repugs for that matter – that is worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell.  And yet, the great-unwashed Amerikan masses continue with their delusion, the great Amerikan game of “monkey see, monkey do.”

Are Amerikans ready to revolt yet?

Hell no!  Amerikans are too revolting to consider revolt, too wrapped up in the deluded, narcotized state known as “hooray for me and screw you.”  Too busy wanting to be first in line, first in jingoism, first in creature comfort, first in delusion and last in reality; last in morality and last in sanity.  We may be the laughing stock of the civilized world, but we’re the bully on the block and if we have to kill you to prove it, we will.

One half of the world laughs at us, the other half hates us, but we continue blithely unaware, seeking the next Paris Hilton or Anna Nicole or Brittany fix.  We look to the Move Ons and the AlterNets, the O’Reilly’s or the Olbermann’s, plunk our money down for a Moore film or hold soiree’s to watch and discuss “An Inconvenient Truth;” but revolt, hell no, that’s the one time no one wants to be first in line.  Hell no, I don’t want to go, I’ll send a check along to the gatekeepers they’ll tell me what to do.

I know, there’s a dichotomy here as well, I titled this All the words have been written and yet here I am adding more words to the vacuous landscape.  But, that’s a writer’s prerogative, some of us tend to operate outside the realm of rhyme and reason at times; much like the general population I suppose.  How can there be any rhyme or reason in the fact that Amerikans cannot stand – and in some cases actually hate – their government and its representatives yet continue on, blithely accepting the day to day absurdity.  The  Supreme Court, supremely contradicts itself by opining that kids have no free speech rights (can a ruling on adults be far behind?) but corporate criminals do – one supposes that this goes along with corporate “personhood.”

The political misfeasors – those 2008 aspirants – continue to duck and otherwise sidestep all relevant issues – like healthcare, ad infinitum – as they proselytize and prostitute their way across the country.  Softball questions (and answers), puffball audiences and the equivalent of sticking the proverbial “thumb in the pie” whilst pulling out (hopefully), the plum and stating; “what a good boy/girl am I.”

So we continue, the beat goes on and the damn water is boiling folks; but not to worry, Paris got out of jail let’s MoveOn to the next  chapter in the saga of Amerika the dumb.  But, hey, Paris got out of jail.
